We are interested in the Open Source Software movement and we are closely involved in two Open Source projects:

1. Joomla (and Mambo before it) - Content Management System

Joomla is a comprehensive and very flexible system that separates the content of your site (the words on the page) from the page layout and the colour scheme / formatting. It allows group collaboration on content creation and management, and as a result authors / editors do not need to know HTML to create or edit pages. User management is built in - visitors to your site can register, either for access to restricted content, to receive newsletters or to access some of the many plug-in components that are available from Joomla's sizeable third party developer community.

Our Role:

We are active in the official support forums where we help out as much as our other activities.  Dean, our Managing Director is the creator of  Amazon Products Feed Bridge which allows you to integrate the output of MrRat's stand-alone APF script directly into your Joomla page.  We also developed the 'Hacker Beware' Joomla Security add-on.

2. Amazon Products Feed (APF) - by MrRat.

A Perl script that integrates a browsable and searchable online store into your site with almost the full contents of Amazon's Web Services. It is fully customisable through templates and modification (mod) files which are plug-ins through which the operation and output of the script can be changed. The script shows products from all six 'locales' or countries that Amazon make available - and the script is multilingual.

Dean's Role Within APF:

Since discovering APF Dean has made several suggestions which MrRat has been good enough to integrate. He is a moderator on his support forums at http://www.absolutefreebies.com/phpBB2/ , and has released a few mod files (some free and open source, some 'for a fee' or premium mods).
